Project Overview

A 220kV substation in Jiangxi, China, has completed the installation of a GIS partial discharge online monitoring system.

For this project, Zhuhai Huawang Technology deployed contact ultrasonic sensors and intelligent UHF sensors to continuously monitor partial discharge signals from GIS equipment during operation.

Monitoring Solution

The contact ultrasonic sensors are installed directly on the GIS equipment to capture acoustic emission signals generated by partial discharge.

The intelligent UHF sensors detect ultra-high-frequency electromagnetic signals associated with partial discharge inside GIS equipment.

By combining the two detection methods, the monitoring system can collect partial discharge information from different signal sources and provide useful data for assessing the insulation condition of GIS equipment.

Application

The system is designed for continuous online monitoring without interrupting the normal operation of the substation.

The collected partial discharge data can help maintenance personnel identify abnormal discharge activity at an early stage and provide a reference for equipment condition assessment and maintenance.
