Partial Discharge and Temperature Monitoring Project at a 110kV Substation

Partial Discharge and Temperature Monitoring Project at a 110kV Substation in Jiangxi, China

1. Project Background

With increasing demands for safe operation and intelligent maintenance of power systems, traditional manual inspections can no longer meet the requirements for real-time, accurate, and efficient monitoring. To enhance equipment reliability, a 110kV substation in Jiangxi Province introduced an advanced online partial discharge (PD) and temperature monitoring system developed by HuaWang Technology. By deploying PD and temperature sensors, the system enables real-time status monitoring and early warning for key substation equipment.

3-in-1 PD Sensor

The intelligent 3-in-1 partial discharge sensor combines three detection technologies: Ultrasonic (AA), Transient Earth Voltage (TEV), and temperature & humidity monitoring. It is widely used in substations and switching stations to monitor PD activity and environmental conditions in ring main units (RMUs), switchgears, and other electrical equipment, helping to detect hidden faults early and ensure stable and safe equipment operation.
